Job Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and proactive Deputy Nursery Manager to join a unique educational setting in Bounds Green. This nursery is part of an established group dedicated to the integration of Montessori principles and Forest School outdoor pedagogy. The successful candidate will support the Nursery Manager in delivering high-quality early years education within a sustainable, nature-led environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operational Leadership: Managing daily floor operations and ensuring the nursery maintains exemplary standards of care and education.
  • Curriculum Management: Collaborating with the Manager to design, implement, and monitor an EYFS curriculum that incorporates Montessori and Forest School values.
  • Staff Development: Supporting the owners with performance management, including staff inductions, supervisions, and appraisals.
  • Compliance & Safeguarding: Maintaining a secure environment in line with the SEN Code of Practice, Safeguarding, and Health & Safety regulations.
  • Ofsted Readiness: Implementing action plans to achieve and maintain a minimum "Good" or "Outstanding" Ofsted rating.

Person Specification

Essential Criteria

  • Qualifications: Minimum Level 3 or 4 qualification in Childcare/Early Years (Level 5, Degree, or Montessori Diploma highly desirable).
  • Experience: At least 2 years of recent experience in a Deputy Manager role within a nursery setting.
  • Leadership: Proven ability to lead a team, show initiative, and manage operations in the absence of the Nursery Manager.
  • Pedagogy: A demonstrable understanding of outdoor learning (Forest School) and/or Montessori methods.
  • Communication: Highly developed verbal and written communication skills for professional parent liaison and accurate record-keeping.
