The Role
We are looking for an experienced and proactive
Finance & Accounts Lead to take ownership of our finance function and provide clear, timely and commercially useful financial information to the business.
This is a hands-on role with responsibility for the day-to-day financial management, reporting and financial controls of the organisation.
We are looking for someone who can work independently, bring structure and accuracy to the finance function, and provide insight that supports business decision-making.
The role is initially expected to be five days per week while in probation period, upon completion this may have to be three days per week.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce timely monthly management accounts and variance analysis.
- Prepare and maintain cash-flow forecasts .
- Monitor budget versus actual performance .
- Track programme and departmental profitability .
- Reconcile funding income against programme delivery.
- Reporting to directors and accountants.
- Manage debtors
- Oversee payroll
- Complete balance-sheet reconciliations, accruals and deferred income.
- Maintain robust supplier and payment controls.
- Ensure the business is prepared for year-end accounts, audit and funding-related financial checks .
- Provide clear financial reporting and commentary to the leadership team.
- Identify financial risks, issues and opportunities and recommend appropriate actions.
- Occasionally travel to different work locations across London as required
About You
You will be an experienced finance professional who is confident taking ownership of a finance function and working independently.
You will have
ACCA, CIMA or
ACA qualified, or able to demonstrate equivalent experience.
- Excellent
Excel skills and confidence working with financial data and spreadsheets.
- Good knowledge of budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis.
- Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
- The ability to explain financial information clearly to non-finance colleagues.
- A commercial and analytical approach, with the confidence to challenge performance where appropriate.
- Highly proficient in
- Excel and accounting software, including
- Xero and knowledge of sage
- Experience of working with contracts, programmes or funded income would be advantageous.
The successful candidate will play an important role in ensuring that the leadership team has a clear monthly view of cash position, income, profitability, budget performance and key financial actions .
