Contracts Manager

We are seeking an experienced Contract Manager to join our team. This role offers the opportunity to lead and oversee a wide variety of piling and ground engineering projects, ensuring they are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. The ideal candidate will combine strong technical expertise with proven project management and commercial skills to successfully manage contracts from award through to completion.
Role Overview
The Contract Manager will be responsible for the overall management of multiple piling and civil engineering projects, ensuring that works are completed safely, on time, within budget and to specification. This role requires excellent leadership, communication, and commercial awareness, along with the ability to work collaboratively with clients, consultants, and internal teams to achieve successful project outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the preparation of tender documents and pre-contract planning activities.
- Take full ownership of projects from contract award through to final account.
- Develop method statements and conduct risk assessments for all assigned projects.
- Procure materials, plant and subcontract services required for each project.
- Manage day-to-day site operations, leading teams to ensure productivity, and HSEQ compliance.
- Control project costs and programmes, ensuring profitability and timely delivery.
- Maintain excellent client communication and customer service throughout project delivery.
- Conduct post-project reviews to capture lessons learned and drive continuous improvement.
- Manage project teams and subcontractors.
- Identify and manage commercial and contractual risks across projects.
The Ideal Person
- Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
- Proven experience as a Contract Manager or Project Manager within piling, foundations, or ground engineering.
- Strong technical understanding of piling techniques, ground engineering, and construction methodologies.
- Excellent leadership, organisational, and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong commercial awareness and knowledge of NEC and JCT contract forms.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and project management software.
- High attention to detail and a commitment to quality, safety, and performance.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to sites as required.
- Able to commute to Downpatrick daily.
