We are currently recruiting for a Head of SHEQ to join our growing team at Quinn London. You will be based at the office at Mill Hill, NW7 and on sites in the London area. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate previous experience in the construction industry in a similar role.
GENERAL AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES
- Environmental
- Ensure plans for each contract and manage flow of information coming in from waste removal suppliers and keep files up to date.
- Update & deal directly with keeping ISO 14001 accreditation.
- Ensuring Waste Companies are issuing correct paperwork to allow our site staff to populate the SWMP.
- Manage Environmental team to ensure site visits take place and Environmental audits carried out.
- Visit Waste Companies twice yearly to carry out audits.
- Ensure SWMP and Site Environmental folders are on all new sites.
- Quality
- Update & deal directly with keeping ISO 9001 Accreditation.
- Attending and compiling all the Information for ISO Audits.
- Ensure quality audits are carried out on all live sites.
- Training β Duties
- Ensure all training records are up to date.
- Ensure all site management staff training is fully compliant.
- Liaise with subcontract supply chains and where possible provide support regarding training plans.
- Manage internal training requirements for all staff.
- Health & Safety β Duties
- Chair Safety & Environmental Committee Meetings and ensure minutes are taken and issued.
- Developing and reviewing all documents comprising of SHEQ management document control systems and regularly auditing their implementation.
- Providing technical support and knowledge base for the Joint Managing Directors and the company as a whole, ensuring that SHEQ is understood to be an integral part of the business and operational efficiency.
- Prioritizing, setting, and reviewing company-wide objectives and targets in relation to health, safety, environment, and quality to ensure corporate social responsibility and sustainable development.
- Liaising with local management to ensure that SHEQ plans, safe systems of work, and risk assessments are in place at all projects/premises in line with legal compliance.
- Ensuring accidents, incidents, and near misses are suitably investigated, ensuring that comprehensive reports are recorded, and remedial actions undertaken to prevent recurrence.
- Manage Health and Safety team to ensure H & S audits are completed as per company requirements and actions arising are closed out.
- Lead on policy and procedure for HRB regulations.
- Ensuring all accreditations are maintained incl. CHAS, Construction line, Safe Contractor British Safety Council and all current ISO accreditations (ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001).
- Provide support and guidance to the tender bid team in relation to H & S matters.
- Chair H & S committee meetings and quarterly meetings with senior operational staff.
- Provide monthly report on H & S performance for review in Board Meetings.
- Promote, advise and lead on all aspects of SHEQ including compliance and management of the SHEQ team.
Skills, Knowledge and Experience
- Chartered Member of IOSH.
- Degree (or equivalent) in a related subject such as Occupational Safety and/or hold a NEBOSH Level 6 Diploma for Occupational Health and Safety Management Professionals.
- Extensive knowledge of Health and Safety legislation.
- Detailed understanding of Safety compliance and enforcement.
- Proficient in safety leadership and able to communicate effectively at all levels.
- Experience in SHEQ leadership and ability to manage a team.
- Experience of working for a main contractor across multiple work streams.
