You will play a key role in strengthening Quilter Invest’s first line risk and governance framework. Reporting to the Head of Operations, Risk & Compliance, you will provide specialist advice, oversight and constructive challenge across governance, risk and compliance activities. You will play a key role in embedding a mature, proactive and well‑evidenced risk management culture across Quilter Invest.
This is a hands‑on role requiring strong analytical capability, good judgement and excellent organisation skills. You will work closely with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders across Quilter Invest and the wider Quilter Group, translating complex requirements into practical, risk‑appropriate outcomes.
Key Responsibilities- Provide first line risk oversight, including identification, assessment and documentation of key risks, controls and mitigations.
- Lead and challenge the RCSA process, ensuring outcomes are robust, current and well‑evidenced.
- Partner with senior stakeholders across Quilter Invest, providing trusted advice, insight.
- Manage risk events, investigations, root cause analysis and lessons learned.
- Maintain risk registers, risk appetite monitoring and high‑quality risk reporting.
- Deliver first line assurance and control testing, strengthening control design and risk maturity.
- Track, challenge and report closure of audit, compliance and assurance actions.
- Coordinate regulatory and compliance activity, including requests, policy reviews and embedding Group requirements and challenge on risk, compliance and control matters.
- Produce clear risk, compliance and assurance MI to support effective senior decision‑making.
- Demonstratable experience working in a first line governance, risk, compliance or assurance role within financial services or a regulated environment.
- Strong knowledge of risk frameworks, governance structures and control methodologies.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distil complex issues into clear, senior‑ready outputs.
- Strong analytical and structured thinking, with high attention to detail.
- Ability to work autonomously while building effective relationships across teams and stakeholders.
- A proactive and curious mindset, with a focus on continuous improvement of processes, frameworks and outcomes.
- Strong organisation and prioritisation skills, with the ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously.
- Experience working in a second line governance, risk or compliance function.
- Professional risk or governance qualifications (e.g. IRM, ICA, CISI).
- Experience supporting SMCR environments.
- Exposure to fintech, platform or wealth management settings.
