This role provides dedicated Finance Operations representation across systems change, platform integrations, new business onboarding and M&A activity. It plays a critical role in protecting accounting integrity, preventing ledger anomalies, and ensuring that new or changed processes are implemented cleanly and sustainably into business‑as‑usual (BAU). Sitting within Finance Operations, the role works closely with the Business Unit (BU) Accounting team, who frequently encounter issues driven by system behaviour, integration failures and changes to accounting flows. Acting as a specialist investigator and subject matter expert, this role supports deep‑dive analysis of accounting issues and champions Finance Operations requirements in upstream design, change and integration discussions. This is a strategic yet hands‑on position, combining technical accounting insight with strong cross‑functional collaboration to ensure operational accounting processes remain robust through change.
Key Responsibilities
- Investigative Accounting
- Lead investigation of accounting anomalies raised by the BU Accounting team.
- Analyse unexplained ledger activity, including integration failures, data issues and missing or incorrect journals.
- Partner with Technology, Systems & Data and Change teams to deliver sustainable fixes and reduce recurrence.
- Finance Operations SME – M&A, Integrations & Onboarding
- Represent Finance Operations in M&A, integration and new business initiatives.
- Review and challenge accounting designs, ledger flows, controls and reconciliations.
- Ensure Finance Operations requirements are met before approval and go‑live.
- Embedding Change into BAU
- Translate system changes into clear operational processes for Finance Operations.
- Support testing (SIT/UAT), documentation and handover into BAU with clear ownership and controls.
About You
You will have strong operational accounting knowledge and a passion for understanding how systems, data and processes interact. You will bring:
- Experience in financial operations, accounting flows or reconciliation processes.
- The ability to troubleshoot complex issues, analyse large data sets and understand ledger behaviour.
- Experience working with technology or change teams on systems integrations or transformations.
- Strong stakeholder influencing skills and the confidence to challenge upstream proposals.
- Understanding of M&A onboarding or systems migrations (desirable, but not essential).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to simplify complex concepts.
- A continuous improvement mindset with a commitment to operational excellence.
