About The Role

On this 12 month programme with Quilter Cheviot, you will gain valuable hands-on experience in the world of investment management. Over the course of the programme, you will have the opportunity to rotate through three core departments, providing you with a well-rounded understanding of the company and its activities. The 12-month fixed term contract will be located at our headquarters in London, however, upon successful completion of the programme, you may be offered a position within one of our front office teams, nationwide.

You will be exposed to the daily tasks and responsibilities associated with investment management, as well as working on challenging ad-hoc projects, allowing you to put your skills and knowledge into practice.

The teams you will be joining are:

  • Investment Management – responsible for interacting with clients, managing investments, and making strategic financial decisions. You will play a crucial role in supporting our investment managers, assisting with portfolio reviews, day-to-day administration support, documenting client relationships, and preparing client presentations and reports. You may also have the opportunity to arrange and attend investment meetings with our clients.
  • Research – responsible for analysing financial markets, identifying investment opportunities and making recommendations to our investment management teams. Responsibilities include assisting with stock and fund analysis and supervised stock and fund research, developing and distributing research material and presentations, and ad-hoc administrative duties.
  • Operations – responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient functioning of our operations across a wide range of specialist areas, including trade processing and settlements, revenue management, account opening, valuations, records, CASS governance, custody, ISA administration, dividends, corporate actions, operational tax, MPS administration and cashiering.

As part of the Quilter Cheviot programme, we will support you in obtaining Unit 1 of the CISI Investment Operations Certificate, the ‘Introduction to Securities and Investment’. This role is offering a salary of up to £30,000.

Consumer Duty

Whilst this isn’t a directly customer facing role, the duties you will perform will contribute to the overall positive outcomes for our customers.

About You

The Quilter Cheviot Early Careers Programme in Investment Management is open to candidates with or without a degree, all we request is that you have completed all your studies prior to September 2026, when the programme starts. Should you then be successful in completing the programme and then go on to be offered a permanent role within our Investment Management teams, you will be required to study towards the relevant qualifications to be certified in your role.

In addition, we also ask that:

  • You have a passion for finance and investment management, with an eagerness to learn about our industry.
  • You have excellent analytical skills, a keen attention to detail, and a curious mind.
  • You have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • You are a team player, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues across different departments.
  • You have clear and concise communication skills to liaise effectively with various stakeholders and clients.
  • You are proactive, with a can-do attitude and eager to take on new challenges.
  • You have a strong work ethic and want to grow your career in investment management.
  • You are proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook etc.).
