We are looking for an Account Manager to join our UK Commercial Team on a permanent basis, responsible for the North East England & Scotland territory.
Your New Role
In your role as Account Manager, you will be responsible for managing all Core Labs business lines in the assigned territory to deliver set targets and objectives. This will include management of existing multiple hospital customer base in both the Clinical Chemistry and Blood Transfusion markets, to retain core accounts and grow revenues whilst maintaining the required profitability and customer relationships. You will also prospect for competitive opportunities and drive profitable growth through the acquisition of new competitive business primarily via Pan Pathology Managed Service proposals. You will utilise Account Management Tools and Sales process to ensure the correct prioritisation of accounts and relationship management within the entire account and its hierarchy to maximise QuidelOrtho proposal impact. The successful candidate will have a strong knowledge of UK IVD industry and Pathology market to ensure high quality customer interaction and effectiveness in role. You will develop in‑depth product and competitor knowledge to have the ability to present and advise on laboratory process, technical specifications and laboratory best practice. Within this role you will work closely with the Commercial, Marketing and Support teams to develop innovative proposals that secure contract extensions and new competitive business.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Takes ownership of the prescribed territory and achieves growth with new business.
- Schedules appointments and makes pre‑planned sales presentations to customers utilising core marketing selling tools and product knowledge.
- Actively seeks and sells to potential new customers.
- Demonstrates the analysers and products confidently to potential and existing customers.
- Makes regular visits to customer locations to ensure quality of our products and equipment is actively monitored, to gather information on orders and market conditions.
- Performs contract renewals/ extensions and tender management activities in conjunction with the commercial team.
- Develops customer and product focused presentation packages aligned to our core marketing campaign.
- Maintains and updates CRM (SalesForce) regularly in line with the needs of the business.
- Follows up with customers to resolve any supply and quality issues and ensure satisfaction.
- Prepares sales reports and documents as detailed by the Sales manager.
- Provides input to sales forecasting for business planning.
- Identifies competitor activities and actively manages the sales process to enhance our positioning.
- Remains up to date on competitor activities, feeding into the sales, support and commercial team at regular intervals.
- Actively utilises the competency framework to self‑drive high performance.
What You’ll Need To Succeed
- Degree Level is preferred from a relevant scientific discipline.
- Desirable: Previous experience in NHS Pathology laboratory.
- Desirable: Previous experience in Medical diagnostic sales.
- Desirable: Previous experience with QuidelOrtho products.
- Full current UK driving licence.
- Ability to travel in the UK with some overnight stays and occasional European travel.
- Ability to drive results and associated tasks within territory, aligned with the key business objectives.
- Able to demonstrate and delivery continual good judgment in routine, day‑to‑day decision making and differentiate between both urgent and non‑urgent situations.
- Use good judgement about whether to act independently or to escalate an issue.
- Collaborate – sharing information with others promoting best‑practice and peer‑to‑peer knowledge transfer to accomplish individual, group and business objectives.
