Liquid Personnel is recruiting for experienced Locum Occupational Therapists to join its client's Local Authority Adult Social Care service in Stoke-on-Trent. This is an excellent opportunity for an OT with Adult Social Care, community or complex care experience, supporting the service to review high-cost care packages, assess functional needs and identify opportunities to maximise independence while delivering safe, proportionate care.
What will your responsibilities be?
- Complete comprehensive Occupational Therapy and functional assessments for adults receiving home care support
- Assess complex double-up care packages, reviewing whether current levels of support remain appropriate based on functional ability, risk and independence
- Identify opportunities to reduce or adapt care provision safely while maintaining positive outcomes for service users
- Complete moving and handling and functional assessments, considering appropriate equipment, techniques and levels of assistance
- Work closely with service users, carers, care providers and wider Adult Social Care colleagues to develop proportionate support arrangements
- Make evidence-based recommendations that promote independence and reduce unnecessary reliance on formal care
- Manage a caseload effectively and complete assessments within required timescales
- Maintain accurate and timely records, ensuring recommendations are clearly documented and defensible
- Work flexibly to meet service requirements, including occasional early starts and late finishes to accommodate care calls
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to contribute towards service priorities and delivery of savings within the home care budget
Hours: Monday–Friday, 9:00am–5:00pm
Working Pattern: On-site presence required, with occasional early starts/late finishes to accommodate care calls
Qualifications & Experience:
- Occupational Therapy qualification and HCPC registration
- Previous experience within Adult Social Care, community OT or a similar setting
- Experience completing functional and moving & handling assessments
- Confidence assessing complex care packages and identifying opportunities to promote independence
- Strong communication, professional judgement and decision-making skills
- Ability to work effectively with service users, carers and care providers
