Torbay Council is seeking a committed and passionate Social Worker to join our Assessment & Intervention Team within Children's Services. You’ll work directly with children and families at times of change and challenge, completing high-quality assessments and delivering purposeful interventions to safeguard children and promote positive outcomes. What You’ll Be Doing

  • Completing statutory Child & Family Assessments and managing complex caseloads
  • Working with children in need and those subject to child protection plans
  • Undertaking Section 47 enquiries and contributing to child protection conferences
  • Delivering direct work with children and families using strengths-based approaches
  • Preparing clear, analytical reports for meetings, legal planning, and court
  • Working collaboratively with partner agencies to safeguard children
  • Recording high-quality case notes in line with statutory and local standards

What We’re Looking For

Essential

  • Qualified Social Worker (BA / MA / DipSW or equivalent)
  • Registered with Social Work England
  • Experience in statutory children’s social work
  • Strong assessment, decision-making, and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced frontline environment

Desirable

  • Experience in an Assessment & Intervention or Duty & Assessment team
  • Court and Public Law Outline (PLO) experience
  • Knowledge of strengths-based or Signs of Safety practice
