Torbay Council is seeking a committed and passionate Social Worker to join our Assessment & Intervention Team within Children's Services. You’ll work directly with children and families at times of change and challenge, completing high-quality assessments and delivering purposeful interventions to safeguard children and promote positive outcomes. What You’ll Be Doing
- Completing statutory Child & Family Assessments and managing complex caseloads
- Working with children in need and those subject to child protection plans
- Undertaking Section 47 enquiries and contributing to child protection conferences
- Delivering direct work with children and families using strengths-based approaches
- Preparing clear, analytical reports for meetings, legal planning, and court
- Working collaboratively with partner agencies to safeguard children
- Recording high-quality case notes in line with statutory and local standards
What We’re Looking For
Essential
- Qualified Social Worker (BA / MA / DipSW or equivalent)
- Registered with Social Work England
- Experience in statutory children’s social work
- Strong assessment, decision-making, and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced frontline environment
Desirable
- Experience in an Assessment & Intervention or Duty & Assessment team
- Court and Public Law Outline (PLO) experience
- Knowledge of strengths-based or Signs of Safety practice
