Quick Staff UK is recruiting for an HR Assistant to join an established manufacturing business in the Tredegar area. This is a varied, hands-on HR role, working directly with the HR Manager and providing support across recruitment, employee relations, absence management, HR administration and the wider employee lifecycle.
Importantly, this isn't a role where you'll necessarily remain an HR Assistant long term. The company is keen to support the successful candidate in developing their HR knowledge, taking on greater responsibility and progressing towards a broader HR Officer / HR Generalist position as their experience develops.
Hours of Work:
- Monday to Thursday: 8:30am–5:00pm with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break
- Friday: 8:30am–2:30pm with no lunch break
- Alternatively, on Friday you can work 8:00am–2:30pm with a 30-minute lunch break.
The position is 37.5 hours per week and fully site-based, with an early finish every Friday.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Acting as a first point of contact for day-to-day HR queries
- Supporting the HR Manager with employee relations matters
- Assisting with reviewing and updating HR policies and procedures
- Supporting maternity, paternity, adoption, shared parental leave, flexible working and other HR processes
- Monitoring absence and supporting managers with the absence management process
- Maintaining accurate employee records and updating the HR system
- Producing information and reports for payroll, production and HR
- Supporting temporary and permanent recruitment, including advertising vacancies, CV screening, interviews and onboarding
- Supporting the complete employee lifecycle, from recruitment and induction through to leavers
- Assisting with training and development administration
- Supporting performance management processes
- Helping with employee engagement, health and wellbeing initiatives
- Providing additional HR administrative support as required
The role will also provide exposure to recruitment, employee relations, capability, absence and performance management, with the opportunity to gradually take ownership of HR processes.
What We're Looking For:
Ideally, you'll already have at least two years' experience within an HR administrative role and be ready for the next stage in your HR career. You'll ideally have:
- Working knowledge of current UK employment legislation
- Experience supporting employee relations administration
- Recruitment experience
- Experience with absence management and HR processes
- Exposure to performance management administration
- Strong HR administration and record-keeping skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- High attention to detail
- The ability to handle confidential and sensitive information professionally
- Good organisational and interpersonal skills
- Confidence using Microsoft Office
Experience within a manufacturing environment would be beneficial but isn't essential. Experience using an HRIS would also be advantageous. A relevant HR qualification or CIPD Level 3 or above is desirable.
Why Apply?
This could be a particularly good opportunity if you're currently working as an HR Administrator or HR Assistant and want a position where you can develop beyond administration. You'll work closely with an experienced HR Manager, gain broader exposure to HR matters and have the opportunity to develop towards an HR Officer / Generalist role as your knowledge and confidence grow.
Salary: £28,000–£29,000 per annum
37.5 hours per week
Early finish every Friday
