The "Special Projects" team is Quick Release's in-house software development centre-of-excellence, developing products directly for clients, tools to support the work of our Analysts and Consultants, and internal software tools to help run the business. The team is made up of primarily full-stack developers who have moved into the team after excelling in Analyst or Consultant roles within Quick Release. We are now seeking an experienced Senior Software Developer to bolster our capacity to deliver high quality software solutions, accelerate our processes and help us grow our technical capabilities.
This role will require 1-2 days per week working from a QR office, client site or shared workspace.
You will be responsible for:
- Delivering on projects as part of a team of developers to create impactful products
- Writing robust and maintainable code
- Helping to shape internal processes and practices
- Collaborating closely with the wider QR team to help problem solve, define, deliver, and code review features
- Attending and leading sessions within the Special Projects daily stand-ups and monthly workshops
- Contributing to and learning from our knowledgebase
- Mentoring less experienced members of the team to facilitate their professional growth
The primary technologies we use include Python, Django, HTML/CSS, JavaScript, Terraform, AWS, Docker, Postgres, Redis, GitHub Actions and Git. Additionally, we support some legacy and smaller tools using VBA, C# and R.
Requirements:
- Professional experience with multiple of our key technologies and/or similar ones
- Experience using the Python programming language
- A demonstrable history of designing and developing impactful applications
- Understanding and ideas around the latest web development tools and techniques
- Professional experience with the latest tools and techniques for web development
- You feel ownership over everything you help to build - you write maintainable code, test and document thoroughly, care about the people who use the things you create and take pride in your work
An extra dose of awesome if:
- You have experience with developing full-stack Django applications
- You have experience with AWS and Terraform
