Summary

The Project Engineer – HVDC will play a key role in the planning, execution, and delivery of HVDC projects. This position is responsible for supporting engineering activities, coordinating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring technical compliance and quality standards throughout the project lifecycle. You'll coordinate global project teams, interact with stakeholders, and be the main point of contact for technical queries. You'll work independently while collaborating with others, managing all your projects and processes with great responsibility.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and oversee the engineering aspects of HVDC systems, including converter stations, control & protection systems, and related substation equipment.
  • Act as a technical interface between engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning teams.
  • Prepare and review technical specifications, drawings, and documentation for HVDC systems.
  • Support project planning and scheduling with technical input on engineering deliverables.
  • Monitor project milestones, deliverables, and performance to ensure adherence to timelines and budgets.
  • Conduct site visits and inspections during installation and commissioning phases.
  • Assist in the identification and resolution of technical issues and risks throughout the project.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, client requirements, and internal processes (e.g., IEC, IEEE, ISO).
  • Collaborate with suppliers, vendors, and subcontractors for equipment specifications and integration.
  • Support the project manager in reporting, documentation, and communication with stakeholders.
  • Serve as the primary contact for technical matters with customers.
  • Ensure complete and multidisciplinary information in engineering development.
  • Lead the development of new solutions for complex projects and challenges.
  • Drive the completion of all engineering activities on projects.
  • Provide technical support for testing, installation, and commissioning activities.
  • Prepare project documents within budget, scope, and contract.
  • Ensure adherence to safety standards and mitigate potential risks.
  • Maintain technical quality in contracts, documents, and deliveries.

Your Background

  • Academic degree in Engineering (e.g., Electrical Engineering or similar).
  • 5+ years of experience in a similar role.
  • Experience with HVDC technology is a plus, but not required.
  • Power industry experience or similar a must.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to take a leading role and deliver quality results.
  • Fluency in English, both verbally and in writing; other languages are an advantage.
  • Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit.
