As a Trade Mark Paralegal, the candidate will work closely with the existing team to provide a wide range of support to the Attorneys. This is a varied role that offers the chance to develop skills and take on additional responsibilities.
Administrative Responsibilities Include:
- New case entry and management of records
- Processing correspondence, emails, and calls
- Monitoring deadlines and maintaining case files
- Preparing and submitting standard forms
- Assisting with invoicing, reporting, and document archiving
Paralegal Responsibilities Include:
- Drafting and reviewing correspondence and simple legal documents under supervision
- Assisting with trade mark filings, searches, recordals, and renewals
- Conducting basic clearance searches and preparing initial advice
- Supporting attorneys with opposition, cancellation, and enforcement matters
- Managing client onboarding and coordinating with international associates
The ideal candidate will demonstrate:
- Prior experience working in an intellectual property team, ideally with trade marks
- CITMA qualification (or progress towards it) is an advantage
- One to two years' experience in intellectual property, ideally in trade marks
- Familiarity with the UKIPO, EUIPO, and WIPO procedures, as well as IP management systems (e.g. Inprotech) and MS Office
- Ability to work predominantly on your own initiative
- Strong organisational skills with ability to manage multiple deadlines and a varying workload
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in document preparation
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Good commercial awareness and an interest in brand protection
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Proactive approach to your work
- Ambitious for increased responsibility and progression
- Flexible attitude to work
