Our client is a well established and successful manufacturer. They are seeking a skilled and motivated Field Service Engineer to join their team. You will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of passenger lifts / vehicle tail lifts at various customer sites throughout the South of England. Ideally you will be based in the Wiltshire area, and will be covering the South of England (areas as far as Somerset, Essex, Sussex, Hampshire). You will be working from home, planning your routes, with occasional travel to the company’s Southern site (for parts, meetings, etc.).

- You are prepared to spend several weeks at their factory in Birmingham to undertake your training. During this time, the company will provide accommodation and meals.
- The role requires extensive travel, so you must be flexible with your working hours depending on the needs of the customer.
- The role will occasionally require overnight stays and working away from home, although this may not be regular, please only apply if you are willing to do this.
Package:
- £32k - £34.5k depending on experience.
- 22 days holiday + Statutory Holidays
- An extra day off for your birthday!
- Overtime will be available and required from time to time. Candidates must be able to and willing to support with overtime working.
- 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Hours are flexible subject to workload during any given week with a working schedule communicated weekly.

Responsibilities:
Installation and Commissioning:
- Install and commission passenger lifts according to technical specifications and safety standards. This means travelling to a vehicle convertor factory and working to install and commission each lift while causing minimal disruption for the customer.
- Perform site assessments to ensure appropriate installation conditions and compliance with all relevant regulations.
Servicing and Maintenance:
- Conduct pre-planned routine maintenance and safety inspections of passenger lifts.
- Complete LOLER Statutory Thorough Examinations and complete relevant paperwork.
- Perform regular servicing and health checks on existing products for customers.
Warranty Support:
- Travel to customer sites to respond to warranty calls.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults in a timely manner.
- Replace or repair worn or defective parts to ensure the safe operation of lifts.
Full training will be given on their specific software systems. Day-to-day you won’t be micromanaged, so you need to be able to structure your workload independently.
Requirements:
- At least 3 years’ experience in mechanical, electrical, or hydraulic engineering in a field based customer facing role is essential.
- Previous experience with vehicle tail lifts (passenger or cargo) would be ideal but is not essential.
- Strong mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic engineering skills.
- Good problem solving and analytical skills.
- Experience in reading technical documents and drawings.
- Good written and verbal communication skills. You’ll often need to explain complicated ideas in simple ways so the ability to do this with speed and accuracy are vital.
- Good customer service skills including a friendly and positive personality.
- A full UK driving license.
- A willingness to travel extensively and work flexible hours.
