The Role

As a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and improving production machinery within a fast-paced manufacturing environment, with a hands-on element of mechanical fitting and installation work.

Key duties include:

  • Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM)
  • Diagnosing faults and responding to breakdowns efficiently
  • Performing mechanical fitting, installation, and modification work on equipment
  • Aligning, assembling, and replacing mechanical components
  • Minimising downtime and supporting production targets
  • Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives
  • Working closely with engineering and production teams
  • Ensuring compliance with health & safety and food safety standards

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a mechanical maintenance and/or fitting role within manufacturing (food industry experience is advantageous)
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
  • Practical experience with mechanical fitting, installation, and assembly
  • Knowledge of conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, hydraulics, and pneumatics
  • A proactive and team-focused approach
  • Relevant engineering qualification (apprenticeship, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent)
