The Opportunity
Our client is a well-established manufacturing business based in Elland, currently seeking an experienced Shift Supervisor to join their production team.
As Shift Supervisor, you will support the Shift Manager in the day-to-day operation and performance of the team while on shift.
You will play a key role in ensuring production targets, quality standards and operational procedures are consistently achieved.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced manufacturing professional with a strong background in Lean and/or Six Sigma methodologies who is looking to take the next step in their career.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Shift Manager with the effective operation and performance of the production team.
- Assess and resolve quality and production issues where possible, escalating where required.
- Ensure all workstations are correctly set up and that the appropriate SOP documentation is clearly displayed.
- Ensure finished goods are transferred promptly to the correct storage locations and are ready for shipping.
- Maintain 5S standards and ensure housekeeping remains at a consistently high level.
- Monitor production standards and ensure targets and quality requirements are achieved.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement across the shift.
- Ensure company policies, procedures and health & safety requirements are followed.
- Provide effective communication between production teams and management.
- Support the team in identifying opportunities for improved efficiency and performance.
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience working as a Shift Supervisor / Production Supervisor within a manufacturing or production environment.
- Proven experience in a similar supervisory role.
- Six Sigma and/or Lean experience is essential.
- Strong understanding of production standards and how to ensure these are achieved.
- Ability to read and understand basic technical drawings to ensure products are manufactured correctly.
- Good understanding of quality requirements and production processes.
- Experience with 5S and continuous improvement principles.
- Understanding of and compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a production team.
