Our client is a successful and well-established vehicle manufacturer and conversion specialist, they are looking for a talented Design Engineer with Automotive industry experience to join their team. They have a wide range of vehicles that they manufacture across their group, the successful candidate could end up working on almost any aspect of these vehicles. Design work can include development projects, continuous improvement, and sales order engineering work. The ideal candidate for this role will be an Engineer by state of mind, having the ability to interrogate data to establish priorities and root causes, and problem solve to optimise designs and implement improvements. PLEASE ONLY APPLY IF YOU MOST OF THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS: • HNC/HND/Degree (or equivalent experience) in an Engineering discipline • Experience of 3D CAD systems, CATIA 3D experience or V5. • Creating solid parts, assemblies, detailed arrangements, and drawings. • Surfacing, sheet metal and/or FEA experience desired but not essential. • Experience in vehicle design, bus design, and/or steel structures preferred. • Knowledge of vehicle homologation legislation. • Ability to carry out engineering calculations where your work requires (e.g. weight distribution, basic stress calculations). • Bill of material (BOM) creation. • Experience with 3D printing and other modern manufacturing methods. • Good knowledge of MS Office applications Qualities and Experience: • Demonstratable experience in a similar role within a complex and challenging design for manufacture business. • Driven, curious, and passionate about always delivering the highest quality of work. • Experience in manufacturing processes and design for manufacturing principles. • Ability to interrogate data to establish priorities, root cause and implement improvements. • Ability to work individually as well as in multi-disciplined teams. • Relationship building will come easily to you. You will be confident and won’t shy away from working with a variety of stakeholders. • Excellent communication, presentation and organisational skills require to be demonstrated and used across all business levels. • Starter/completer; you will be required to take ownership of work from the initial design stages, through drawings and specification to overseeing initial fitment on the vehicle. • Ability to work autonomously. Salary: £30k – £35k depending on experience. Hours of work: TBC, possibly 8:30am to 5:00pm (2:30pm finish on Fridays), could be earlier start. This role would suit someone with previous experience in Automotive / Vehicle / Coach / Bus / Truck / HGV / Lorry / PSV design (parts / fittings / conversions). Previous job titles could include; CAD Technician / Senior Design Engineer / AutoCAD Engineer / CAD Engineer / Draughtsperson / Draughtsman / Technical Designer / Engineering Designer / Mechanical Design Engineer / CATIA Engineer / V5 Designer / similar roles
