Quest Search & Selection is hiring a Procurement Buyer within FMCG. This role is to drive agreed COGS reductions and boost supplier service levels + availability. We’re looking for someone who can seamlessly manage both strategic projects and day-to-day operations in a fast-paced environment.

Role & Responsibilities of this Procurement Buyer – FMCG role
- Develop and execute the sourcing strategy for designated categories, assessing both current and potential products, suppliers, and supply chains.
- Maintain a strong understanding of cost drivers and overall market dynamics, including competitor activity and commodity trends.
- Lead negotiations on cost price increases, ensuring timely communication and keeping all stakeholders informed throughout the process.
- Create and manage plans to reduce cost of goods sold across the existing range.
- Partner closely with suppliers to identify cost of goods reductions and range development opportunities.
- Ensure a resilient and sustainable supply base by conducting SWOT analyses and implementing action plans to strengthen supplier performance, mitigate risks, and capitalise on opportunities.
- Source and onboard new suppliers who can offer improved commercial value or support new product and category development.
- Collaborate with category team and suppliers, to identify and drive volume opportunities that support improved buying outcomes
Qualification Required for this Procurement Buyer – FMCG role
- Ideally having experience in own-label buying, purchasing, procurement & supplier management
- That you would at an Buyer, Senior or management level.
- Have extensive experience within cost optimisation, and performance improvement
- Minimum of 3-5 years + years’ buying experience in a retail or wholesale environment.
- Proven track record in managing cost of goods within own-label categories.
- Hands-on experience with production and supply chain operations,
- Demonstrable experience running tenders that deliver financial and business benefits.
- Excellent negotiation skills, with multiple examples of employing different tactics and approaches to achieve successful outcomes.
- Competence in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
