We are currently recruiting for a Legal Cashier to join our accounts team on a full-time basis at Brighton. The successful candidate will have experience working in a cashiering environment within a law firm. We are looking for someone with excellent attention to detail who is organised and methodical with a can-do attitude, along with the ability to work quickly and efficiently to ensure deadlines are met. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a friendly and supportive team.
KEY TASKS
- Ensuring that office, client and nominal account ledgers are updated daily.
- Checking and data entry of private client, Legal Aid and Legal Help bills.
- Processing payments on account of legal aid fees and disbursements.
- Raising cheques in accordance with fee earners or support staff instructions.
- Taking debit & credit card payments and processing paperwork for same.
- Banking including reconciliation in accordance with SRA accounts rules.
- Processing incoming and outgoing electronic payments in a timely manner and maintaining accurate records and notifications.
- Maintenance of the firm’s petty cash system.
- Providing assistance to and cover for other members of the Cashiers team.
- Ensuring that transactions and processes comply with the SRA Accounts Rules, HMRC regulations and other relevant legislation and guidance.
