We're hiring: Software Development Intern at QUEST. QUEST is building a social prediction game for Gen Z communities. We turn live moments into something people play through together. From Freshers' Week and festivals to amateur sports, reality TV and moments inside private friend groups, users call what happens next, compete with their communities and share the result. Predictions can be private or public. There is no real-money staking or cash-out. Players compete for status, leaderboard position and bragging rights, while selected sponsored Quests may also offer prizes. We're pre-seed, moving quickly with a current cohort of 10 and preparing for a closed beta this summer ahead of our public launch in October.
We're now looking for a Software Development Intern to help us build, test and ship the product. This is a hands-on role with real responsibility. You will work directly with our CTO, founders and product team on features that get tested by real users.
What you'll work on:
- Building and shipping mobile features with React Native and Expo
- Developing backend services with NestJS and GraphQL
- Working with PostgreSQL, TypeORM and Firebase
- Turning product flows and designs into reliable, maintainable code
- Debugging, testing and improving performance
- Contributing to technical and product discussions
- Supporting the product through closed beta, iteration and public launch
Our stack: NestJS, TypeScript, GraphQL, TypeORM, PostgreSQL and Firebase on the backend. React Native, Expo, TypeScript and GraphQL on the frontend. Clever Cloud for infrastructure.
We're looking for someone who:
- Has strong TypeScript or JavaScript fundamentals
- Has built things in either mobile frontend or backend development
- Understands APIs, databases, Git and modern development workflows
- Can work independently, communicate blockers and take ownership
- Tests and verifies what they build
- Learns quickly and is comfortable in an early-stage startup
Experience with React Native, NestJS, GraphQL, PostgreSQL, Firebase or Expo is useful, but we do not expect you to know every part of the stack. What matters most is that you are technically curious, rigorous and motivated to help build a consumer social product from an early stage.
Details:
- Type: paid internship, full-time
- Pay: London Living Wage (£14.80 per hour)
- Location: London, hybrid
- Start: as soon as possible
