How would you like to lead a global financial control function while helping to shape the future of finance through transformation, automation and collaboration? This is an exciting opportunity to lead a critical finance function within FTSE Russell, supporting a business that plays an essential role in global financial markets. You will help shape the direction of financial control by combining strong governance with innovation, enabling the organisation to scale, adapt and succeed in an increasingly complex environment. Working across a broad network of partners, you will have the opportunity to influence strategy, develop talent and contribute to finance transformation initiatives that deliver long-term value.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Control & Reporting: In this role, you will lead the delivery of accurate monthly, quarterly and annual financial results, ensuring strong financial stewardship across FTSE Russell. You will oversee balance sheet governance, including reconciliations, substantiation and the resolution of complex accounting matters, while maintaining effective control over subscription and asset-based revenue streams. This includes managing billing, accruals, deferred revenue and partner-share arrangements to support accurate and timely reporting.
  • Governance, Risk & Compliance: You will take ownership of the FTSE Russell financial control framework, continuously enhancing controls to support a growing and evolving business. Working closely with internal and external partners, you will oversee statutory account preparation, legal entity reporting and external audits, while ensuring compliance with regulatory and governance requirements. You will also prepare and present finance papers for legal entity boards, helping to provide clear insights that support decision-making.
  • Transformation & Continuous Improvement: We are looking for someone who is passionate about driving improvement and modernising finance processes. You will lead financial control activities associated with systems implementations, finance transformation initiatives and process changes, seeing opportunities to automate, standardise and simplify reporting and accounting processes. Your work will help create scalable solutions that improve efficiency, enhance controls and support future business growth.
  • Leadership & Partnership: Success in this role will come through strong leadership and collaboration. You will lead, coach and develop a geographically dispersed financial control team, fostering an inclusive and high-performing environment where people can grow and succeed. You will build positive relationships across FP&A, Finance Business Partners, Group Finance, Operations, Risk, Tax and Treasury teams, while also partnering effectively with external auditors and other key partners to achieve shared goals.

Candidate Profile

  • We are seeking a qualified accountant with significant post-qualification experience and a strong foundation in technical accounting, financial reporting and financial control.
  • You will bring experience from a complex international organisation, with a track record of leading financial control, controllership or product control activities while maintaining high standards of governance, compliance and delivery.
  • You will have experience overseeing statutory reporting, external audits and legal entity governance, alongside a proven ability to lead global teams and deliver results through periods of organisational change.
  • We would also welcome experience gained through ERP implementations, finance transformation programmes or operational improvement initiatives, particularly where you have driven efficiencies and strengthened control environments.
  • The successful candidate will combine strong judgement with excellent communication and internal partner management skills.
  • You will be confident building relationships across multiple functions and influencing senior partners to achieve business objectives.
  • Experience within financial services, market data, indices, benchmarks or another regulated environment would be advantageous, as would knowledge of subscription-based or asset-based revenue models and Oracle Fusion.
