Quest of Life is a community-led organisation providing free international peer support groups through Discord for people facing challenges in isolation. We are currently transitioning from a Community Interest Company (CIC) into a registered charity in the United Kingdom. As part of this transition, we are building the structures, governance practices, and operational foundations needed to support sustainable long-term growth. This is a volunteer-led initiative with a collaborative and evolving environment. The role would suit someone interested in helping shape an early-stage charity structure rather than stepping into an already established governance system.

We are looking for a Volunteer Secretary & Compliance Support volunteer to assist with organisational administration, governance coordination, and charity compliance tasks. This role does not require someone to already be an expert in charity law. We welcome applicants who are interested in learning, researching, and gradually taking ownership of governance-related responsibilities alongside the trustee team. The expected commitment is approximately 2–4 hours per week on average, with occasional flexibility during periods of organisational change or key filings. You will work closely with the trustee team and organisational leadership. This role may be a good fit for someone exploring nonprofit operations, administration, governance, psychology/coaching community support work, or early-career charity sector experience.

Core Responsibilities

  • Help maintain governance and organisational records
  • Assist with meeting coordination, agendas, and documenting key decisions
  • Support trustee onboarding and administrative processes
  • Help track basic compliance requirements and deadlines
  • Assist with drafting, formatting, or organising internal organisational documents
  • Help monitor action items and follow-ups from trustee meetings
  • Support basic policy and governance document updates
  • Communicate with trustees and volunteers regarding administrative matters

Optional / Future Areas of Contribution

  • Contribute ideas around organisational structure and governance processes
  • Assist with charity registration or constitutional documentation research
  • Support the development of internal policies and operational procedures
  • Contribute to conversations around community safety, volunteer processes, and long-term organisational sustainability

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong organisational and administrative skills
  • Good written communication and attention to detail
  • Interest in UK charity governance, compliance, or nonprofit operations
  • Comfortable working collaboratively in a remote volunteer environment
  • Ability to manage tasks independently and follow through reliably
  • Willingness to learn and contribute within an evolving organisation

What You’ll Gain

  • Hands-on experience supporting a growing charitable organisation
  • Exposure to UK charity governance and nonprofit administration
  • Opportunity to help shape systems and processes from an early stage
  • Flexible remote volunteering with an international team
  • Practical experience relevant to nonprofit, governance, and operations-focused careers

How to Apply

Please apply via LinkedIn with a short introduction about your interest, relevant experience (if any), and what draws you to community-focused support work. Lived experience with peer support communities, mental health advocacy, or international online communities is welcome but not required.
