Quest Medical (UK) Ltd is one of the UK's leading providers of logistics and maintenance services supporting the mobile medical industry. We are currently seeking an experienced HGV / Trailer Technician to join our engineering team based at Upper Heyford. This role offers the opportunity to work on a specialist fleet of vehicles and trailers that support healthcare services across the UK. Our fleet includes Volvo FH and DAF trucks, as well as specialist medical trailers and support vehicles. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled technician looking for a stable, long-term role within a growing engineering business.

The Role

As an HGV / Trailer Technician, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing the company's fleet of trucks, trailers and specialist medical equipment to the highest standards. Key responsibilities include:

  • Routine maintenance and repair of Volvo FH and DAF HGV vehicles
  • Routine inspections and preventative maintenance of trucks and trailers
  • Maintenance and repair of mobile medical trailers
  • Carrying out full annual inspections including hubs and brake strip-downs
  • Diagnosing mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults
  • Diagnostics and repair of trailer ABS / EBS systems
  • Maintenance and repair of TRIDEC steering systems
  • Maintenance and repair of hydraulic landing leg systems
  • Diagnostics and repair of vehicle and trailer electrical systems
  • Occasionally carrying out routine servicing and repairs to diesel generators
  • Occasionally carrying out routine servicing and repairs to the company fleet of vans
  • Occasional attendance at on-site maintenance and breakdowns at hospitals and medical facilities across the UK
  • Ensuring all work is completed to high safety and quality standards
  • Completing service documentation and reports in a timely manner

The role is primarily workshop-based at our Upper Heyford depot, with occasional site visits when required.

What We're Looking For

Essential:

  • Proven experience as an HGV Technician / HGV Mechanic / Trailer Technician
  • Experience maintaining heavy commercial vehicles and trailers
  • Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Full UK driving licence

Desirable:

  • Experience working with trailer ABS / EBS systems
  • Experience with TRIDEC steering systems
  • Experience working with hydraulic systems
  • HGV C+E licence

Salary

Competitive salary depending on experience

Salary review following successful completion of probation

Overtime available: 1.5x weekdays and Saturdays, 2x Sundays and Bank Holidays

Working Hours

Monday - Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm 45-hour working week including 1 hour unpaid lunch
