Quest Joinery is a multi-award-winning bespoke joinery fit-out and manufacturing specialist based in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire. We design, manufacture, and install intricate, high-quality joinery for both commercial and private clients across London and the South East. Our modern headquarters combines cutting edge technology with state-of-the-art machinery to deliver first-class products and a stimulating, supportive work environment.

We are looking for an experienced Joinery Project Manager to take ownership of allocated projects through pre-construction, construction and post-construction. You will plan, coordinate and deliver joinery projects safely, on time and within budget, maintaining Quest Joinery’s quality, commercial and compliance standards. This is a key role in leading delivery teams, managing client relationships and driving continual improvement in health, safety and performance.

Key responsibilities:
  • Manage projects of varying sizes, from single high-value schemes to several smaller projects simultaneously.
  • Run projects through design, procurement and all stages of construction, maintaining and updating a live 6-week programme.
  • Prepare, agree and manage project programmes, ensuring design, materials and labour are fully resourced to meet milestones.
  • Produce and manage detailed design information, including preparing CAD pack information and working closely with the design team to get designs prepared, coordinated, agreed and approved by the client.
  • Use M1 to plan, monitor and report on all works, maintaining accurate information and finalising job board details for production.
  • Assist with development of project budgets and cost plans, monitoring costs and protecting the commercial position of the project, including recording delays and additional costs.
  • Lead and motivate project delivery teams, including site labour and subcontractors, managing labour allocations and performance.
  • Undertake pre-construction surveys and coordinate technical solutions to enable accurate manufacture and installation.
  • Operate and promote high standards of health and safety, delivering continual improvement in H&S on all sites.
  • Book and coordinate deliveries in advance to ensure materials are available in line with programme, assisting in ordering and negotiating materials as required.
  • Maintain exceptional standards of quality and finish on site, operating quality control procedures and ensuring works are inspected, signed off, protected and recorded as they progress.
  • Liaise proactively with clients, suppliers, designers and other stakeholders, issuing weekly and monthly reports, updated trackers, schedules and drop-lines.
  • Collect and check timesheets, allocating the correct M1 activities, and ensure daywork sheets are signed and submitted to the office.
  • Support training and development of site staff and apprentices, contributing to the growth and continual improvement of the business.
  • Build and maintain excellent relationships with clients and stakeholders, creating a network that generates repeat business.
Key skills and experience:
  • In-depth knowledge of the joinery / fit-out industry and a good understanding of materials, finishes and manufacturing processes.
  • Strong experience of construction management processes, means and methods, ideally within bespoke joinery or interior fit-out.
  • Proven ability to create and manage project plans and budgets, and to deliver results within time, cost and quality parameters.
  • Confident using project tools and systems (including CAD pack preparation and ERP/project software such as M1).
  • Skilled at leading, motivating and developing teams, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Flexible, positive working attitude, with strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
  • Good level of IT literacy.
Qualifications:
  • A-Levels / higher education – preferred.
  • SSSTS / SMSTS (or equivalent H&S training) – preferred.
Package and location:
  • Competitive salary, dependent on experience.
  • Discretionary performance-related bonus.
  • Life insurance and health insurance.
  • Company pension.
  • All tools, uniform, PPE and training provided as required.
  • The role is split between our Head Office in Hemel Hempstead and various temporary site locations, usually in and around London.
