The Process Engineer is responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of process plant and equipment. The role provides technical expertise in process systems, equipment performance and maintenance strategies to maintain operational capability and optimise plant performance. The Process Engineer works closely with operations, maintenance and engineering teams to troubleshoot process issues, support maintenance activities and implement improvements to process equipment and systems.

  • Provide technical support for operation, maintenance, and performance of process equipment such as pumps, valves, heat exchangers, pressure systems, tanks and piping.
  • Monitor process systems to ensure equipment operates within design parameters and identify any performance issues.
  • Support planned maintenance activities, inspections and equipment repairs with operations and maintenance teams.
  • Contribute to preventative and predictive maintenance strategies and analyse performance data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
  • Use operational data and instrumentation to assess plant performance and identify efficiency, reliability and lifecycle improvements.
  • Support implementation of process improvements, equipment upgrades and optimisation activities.
  • Apply FMEA and other analytical methods to assess maintenance strategies and risk.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including equipment specs, operating procedures and maintenance instructions.
  • Provide engineering input to plant modifications, equipment upgrades, new installations, commissioning and testing.

Work Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Experience working with industrial process equipment and process plant operations.
  • Knowledge of maintenance practices and reliability engineering principles.
  • Good communication and collaboration skills across operations and maintenance teams.
  • Experience in highly regulated industries such as nuclear, oil & gas, energy, or chemical processing.
  • Familiarity with asset management systems or maintenance management software (CMMS).
  • Experience with Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA).
