The predicted salary is between 36000 - 60000 Β£ per year.

Purpose of role - To set the specifications for the maintenance, repair, and overhaul of aero-derivative gas turbines in line with business expectations. They will play a key role in ensuring the reliability, performance, and compliance of turbine assets through technical oversight, engineering support, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Main duties and responsibilities involved include but are not limited to:

  • Technical Responsibilities
  • Overhaul Planning & Execution: Develop and define the workscope for overhauling gas turbines. Coordinate inspections, repairs, and overhauls in line with industry and regulatory standards.
  • Repair & Overhaul Oversight: Set standards for the disassembly, inspection, repair, and reassembly of turbine components. Ensure compliance with engineering drawings, specifications, and tolerances. Consult with internal and external engineering teams to define the technical requirements of component overhaul.
  • Troubleshooting & Diagnostics: Identify root causes of performance issues or failures using diagnostic tools and data analysis. Recommend corrective actions and implement solutions.
  • Component Life Management: Track and manage the residual life of Life Limited Parts during the overhaul process.
  • Technical Documentation: Prepare and maintain detailed operating procedures, inspection reports, and compliance documentation. Update technical manuals and procedures as needed.
  • Operational & Quality Responsibilities
    • Compliance & Safety: Ensure all work adheres to safety regulations, environmental standards, and quality assurance protocols. Conduct risk assessments and enforce safe working practices.
    • Continuous Improvement: Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) and implement process improvements. Apply Lean, Six Sigma, or other methodologies to enhance efficiency and reduce downtime.
  • Collaborative & Leadership Responsibilities
    • Cross-Functional Coordination: Liaise with design engineers, OEMs, supply chain, and operations teams. Support procurement of spare parts and materials.
    • Training & Mentorship: Train and mentor apprentices on MRO procedures and best practices.
    • Project Management: Lead or support MRO projects, including budgeting, scheduling, and reporting progress to stakeholders.

    • Collaboration & Teamwork: Working effectively with cross-functional teams including design, operations, and quality.
    • Communication Skills: Clear reporting of technical issues and maintenance outcomes to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
    • Adaptability: Flexibility to respond to unexpected issues or changes in operational priorities.
    • Attention to Detail: Precision in following procedures and documenting maintenance, repair and overhaul activities.

    Minimum Job Requirements:

    • Education requirements (desirable): Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
    • Technical Experience: Extensive knowledge of gas turbines and rotating equipment. Demonstrated experience of repair schemes. RB211 and/or Avon product knowledge. Route cause and corrective action experience. The ability to interpret data from sensors and diagnostic tools to identify and resolve faults.
