We are seeking an experienced EMC / Electronics Engineer to join our growth UK Defence business to work on critical UK Submarine projects. We are looking for Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) who can support review and assessment of Combat Systems equipment EMC documentation suitability and qualification status. The role will involve providing a key role in acceptance of equipment onto our Royal Navy Submarine Fleet.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe role is to act as an EMC Subject Matter Expert, reviewing supplier EMC and Electrical Design documents for completeness, compliance to the Data Item description (DID), which form the body of compliance evidence and safety for a major UK Submarine programme. These documents include:
- EMC Test Plan, Schedules and Test Report
- EMC Analysis Documents
- Electrical Interface and Installation Guidance information
- Electrical design Information to support Design Reviews
- Foran/CADS5 model to support part approvals, supplier's manufacturer's data packs, etc.
The documents are to verify compliance to EMC standards including DEF STAN 59-411. The role may also need to conduct an impact analysis of non‐compliance to other co‐located or connected equipment.
Additional Responsibilities- Production of CS Electrical design interface information, e.g. Interface and Installation procedures, Production Test procedures & Qualification Test procedures
- Resolution of electrical design issues
- Coordination with client and third‐party stakeholders to resolve or manage physical integration and develop design solutions
- Performing Engineering analysis as required
- Experience of EMC testing to military standards (59‐411 and MIL STD 461)
- Experience of design electronic equipment to meet EMC standards
- Experience of conducting or reviewing EMC analysis
- Knowledge of Electrical Safety Standard BS EN 62368
- Knowledge of Ship's power supply standard Def Stan 61‐5
- Good understanding of defence certification, qualification and testing methods and methodologies
- Knowledge of material safety standards for electrics (ROHS, REACH etc.)
- Experience of working in a defence environment
- Preferably experience in the Marine sector
- Good knowledge of EMC Design and Qualification best practice
- Respected EMC expert with broad experience
