The Systems Engineer will work together with the customer contributing to requirements management and problem understanding, supporting facilities engineering and major infrastructure projects. This role may include but is not limited to:
- Requirements management, ensuring projects are properly scoped and delivered using sound systems thinking principles.
- Facilitating stakeholder workshops, helping shape pragmatic approaches to complex and real-world infrastructure problems.
- Structuring verification and validation plans.
- Working collaboratively with engineering discipline leads to obtain engineering assistance required, define activities and jointly establish Statements of Work.
- Collaborating with client leadership to ensure goals of engagement are fulfilled, new ideas are discussed and workstream expansion plans implemented.
- Ensuring project scoping, requirements capture and problem definition are done effectively and collaboratively.
- Supporting the development of technical documentation including requirement sets, interface definitions, V&V plans and logical architectures.
- Applying and promoting practical systems thinking in support of infrastructure and facilities maintenance projects.
- Compiling and peer reviewing project and technical reports.
- Workload planning, estimating & scheduling, supporting project coordination if part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Being adaptable as project requirements evolve, and ensuring relevant parties are notified of changes in the project.
- Driving customer satisfaction.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree (minimum) in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
- Typically 2+ years of relevant systems engineering experience in a highly regulated industry (e.g., aerospace, nuclear, maritime, infrastructure, oil and gas etc.).
- Understanding of systems engineering principles, including requirements management, integration and verification and validation.
- Knowledge of requirements engineering practices and methods.
- Experience organising and supporting stakeholder meetings.
- Good understanding of project life cycle from concept, commissioning to operations and maintenance.
Desirable Attributes:
- Exposure to systems engineering frameworks such as INCOSE SE Handbook or relevant Defence Standards.
- Experience in design and construction phases especially in a dockyard or industrial infrastructure environment.
- Experience with IBM DOORs.
- Experience in Project Engineering: including scoping, proposing solutions and approaches, coordinating and managing progress and reporting.
