Role Overview: As an Electrical Engineer supporting the Electrical Engineering Lead, you will play a critical role in the delivery of infrastructure and asset development projects at a major facility. You will work across various stages of project delivery, from scoping and design through to implementation, testing and commissioning. Your technical input will directly contribute to maintaining and enhancing facility infrastructure to meet operational, safety, and compliance requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Electrical Engineering Lead to gather technical requirements and assist in translating them into workable electrical engineering solutions.
- Contribute to the design and development of modifications to existing systems and the implementation of new infrastructure, ensuring compliance with electrical standards and site regulations.
- Assist in the preparation and review of technical documentation, including specifications, drawings, risk assessments, and reports.
- Participate in site surveys and inspections to support the planning and development of engineering solutions.
- Support installation, commissioning, and testing activities, ensuring alignment with design intent and compliance obligations.
- Use electrical CAD tools (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical) to produce and update electrical schematics, layouts, and diagrams.
- Liaise with suppliers, contractors, and internal teams to ensure correct interpretation and delivery of technical information.
- Identify and escalate technical risks, non-conformities, or operational challenges to the Electrical Engineering Lead.
- Maintain accurate records of work and contribute to progress reporting as required.
Work Experience Qualifications & Experience:
- ONC (Ordinary National Certificate) or equivalent in Electrical Engineering (minimum).
- Relevant electrical engineering experience in a highly regulated industry (e.g., nuclear, maritime, infrastructure, oil and gas etc.).
- Proficiency in interpreting and creating electrical schematics and technical drawings.
- Working knowledge of low-voltage systems, power distribution, and electrical installation standards.
- Familiarity with industry regulations and standards (e.g., BS7671, IEC, or equivalent).
- Comfortable working in a regulated or safety-critical environment.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Desirable Skills:
- Experience in defence, marine, or infrastructure projects.
- Understanding of HV (High Voltage) electrical systems.
- Knowledge of building services integration or backup power systems.
- Experience with design tools such as ETAP or similar is an advantage.
- Ability to adapt to changing requirements and multi-project environments.
