Quest Employment is recruiting on behalf of a well-established and growing manufacturing business specialising in bespoke panel processing and precision wood machining. We are seeking an experienced Beam Saw Operator / Wood Machinist to join a skilled and friendly production team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with hands-on experience working with sheet materials who takes pride in accuracy, quality, and working independently.
The Role
- As a Beam Saw Operator / Wood Machinist, you will be responsible for operating a Homag beam saw, managing your own workload, and ensuring materials are processed efficiently to meet production targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate a Homag beam saw
- Cut sheet materials accurately to specification
- Work with MDF, plywood, melamine-faced boards, and similar materials
- Read and interpret cutting lists and production schedules
- Manage workload to meet deadlines and production targets
- Carry out routine machine checks and basic maintenance
- Monitor quality throughout the cutting process
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised work area
- Minimise material waste and maximise efficiency
- Work collaboratively with the wider production team
Requirements
- Previous experience operating a beam saw (ideally Homag machinery)
- Strong background in woodworking, panel processing, or wood machining
- Experience working with sheet materials such as MDF and melamine boards
- Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Good understanding of health and safety within a workshop environment
- Reliable with strong timekeeping
- Positive attitude and strong work ethic
