Quest Employment is recruiting experienced Tent Builders on behalf of a growing and well-established business specialising in large-scale event structures and semi-permanent buildings across the UK and Europe. This is an exciting opportunity to work on prestigious events, sporting venues, exhibitions, hospitality projects, and large-scale temporary structures throughout the UK and occasionally overseas.

The Role
As a Tent Builder, you will be responsible for assisting with the construction and dismantling of temporary structures and semi-permanent buildings at various locations across the UK and Europe. Projects vary week to week, meaning no two days are the same. During quieter winter periods, there may also be yard-based work at the Swan Valley depot.
Typical working pattern:
- Mostly Monday to Friday
- Working away can extend up to 12 consecutive days depending on project requirements
- Typical working hours are 10-12 hours per day, usually 8:00am - 6:00pm
- Early starts and regular overnight stays required
- Paid time starts from collection at the Swan Valley depot
- Standard working week is 40 hours. Any hours worked over 40 are paid at overtime rates, with the option to bank overtime hours for quieter periods up to 240 hours per year
Key Responsibilities
- Building and dismantling temporary event structures and buildings
- Loading and unloading materials and equipment
- Working safely as part of a team on different sites
- Using hand tools and specialist equipment
- Following all Health & Safety procedures
- Travelling to projects across the UK and occasionally Europe
What We're Looking For
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Valid passport and willingness to travel abroad occasionally
- Previous experience within tent building, construction, labouring, events, or similar environments
- Strong teamwork skills and positive attitude
- Practical and hands-on approach to work
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
- Technical mindset and willingness to learn
- Ability to stay away from home for up to 12 days when required
Training opportunities include:
- CSCS
- Forklift
- MEWP / aerial platform training
- Additional forklift licences or certificates would be advantageous and may result in higher pay rates following interview assessment.
Pay & Benefits
- Starting pay rate from £15.00 per hour depending on experience
- Experienced Tent Builders can earn higher rates based on skills and qualifications
- Overtime paid after 40 hours at x1.25
- Saturday overtime paid at x1.5
- Sunday overtime paid at double time
- £12 overnight allowance
- £7 daily site allowance when working away
- Hotels fully paid for during overnight stays
- Meals provided while working away, including breakfast and evening meal with drinks
- Company vehicles, tools, and workwear supplied
- 23 days holiday plus Bank Holidays
