Job Overview
We are currently recruiting for a General Operative to join a precision engineering and manufacturing environment in Daventry.
The role will involve supporting milling and turning operations, carrying out general machine operative duties and assisting with the production of automotive components. You will be required to follow specific production instructions and processes, maintain high standards of quality and work safely at all times.
Previous experience within a manufacturing or engineering environment is essential. Experience with precision engineering machinery, milling, turning or RoboDrill machinery would be highly advantageous.
Full training will be provided, and previous machine-setting experience is not required.
Key Responsibilities
- Operating machinery as part of milling and turning processes
- Carrying out general machine operative duties
- Loading and unloading components from machinery where required
- Deburring, washing and assembling components
- Pressure testing components using approved equipment
- Part marking and honing of components
- Monitoring machinery during production
- Carrying out visual and in-cycle quality inspections
- Inspecting finished products for accuracy and adherence to specifications
- Using measuring equipment such as micrometres and verniers where required
- Following production instructions, processes and quality requirements
- Reporting any non-conformities or quality issues
- Completing paperwork accurately in line with ISO9001 requirements
- Packing and counting finished components
- Maintaining a clean, tidy and organised working environment in line with 5S principles
- Following all company health and safety procedures
- Working flexibly across different areas of the shopfloor when required
- Supporting the wider team with additional duties as required
- Working overtime when required
Candidate Requirements
- Previous experience within a manufacturing or engineering environment is essential
- Experience working with precision engineering machinery is highly desirable
- Previous experience in milling or turning would be advantageous
- Knowledge or experience of RoboDrill machinery would be beneficial
- Experience working in an environment where attention to detail is important
- Previous experience using measuring equipment is advantageous
- Engineering background preferred
- Good reading and numerical skills
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and concentration
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and production processes
- Good understanding of working safely around industrial machinery
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Flexible approach and willingness to work across different areas when required
- Reliable and consistent approach to work
- Able to use own initiative
- Good command of English

Full training will be provided to ensure the successful candidate is competent in the specific machinery, processes and quality requirements used within the business.
