About the Role
We are currently recruiting for an Arboriculture Ground Operative to join a hardworking and professional team delivering forestry and grounds maintenance services across Leicestershire and occasionally surrounding counties. This is an excellent long-term opportunity for someone who enjoys working outdoors, takes pride in maintaining green spaces, and is committed to high standards of health and safety. Working as part of a team, you will carry out a variety of forestry, arboriculture and grounds maintenance tasks to help maintain public spaces, highways, footpaths and woodland areas.
Key Responsibilities
- Carrying out ground-based forestry work, including processing felled trees and clearing foliage.
- Assisting with tree, shrub and hedge planting and ongoing maintenance.
- Hedge trimming, hedge laying and planting schemes.
- Strimming and verge maintenance.
- Maintaining public rights of way and other green infrastructure.
- Operating a range of specialist equipment including wood chippers, chainsaws, hedge cutters and other powered plant.
- Carrying out daily vehicle and equipment inspections and basic maintenance.
- Ensuring all arboriculture equipment is maintained in a safe working condition.
- Working to recognised arboriculture standards, including BS3998.
- Supporting forestry and groundworks projects as directed by supervisors.
- Following risk assessments and safe systems of work at all times.
- Maintaining a clean, safe and professional working environment.
What We're Looking For
- Enjoy working outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Have experience within forestry, arboriculture, landscaping or grounds maintenance (preferred but not essential).
- Are confident using or willing to learn to operate power tools and specialist equipment such as chainsaws, chippers and strimmers.
- Have a strong commitment to health and safety.
- Can work effectively as part of a team as well as independently when required.
- Are reliable, hardworking and take pride in delivering high-quality work.
- Are willing to undertake training to develop new skills.
Working Hours & Requirements
Working hours begin and end at the depot each day. Travel to various sites across Leicestershire and surrounding counties will be required. Flexibility is essential, as occasional evening, weekend, night and public holiday work may be required. You may be asked to participate in an emergency call-out rota. This is a Safety Critical role and is subject to random Drug & Alcohol testing. Drivers may be required to complete a pre-employment medical and annual health assessments where applicable.
