We are looking for a General Forestry Operative to join our team and help deliver high-quality forestry, arboriculture and grounds maintenance services across Leicestershire and occasionally surrounding areas. This is a varied, practical role where you will work as part of a team, carrying out a range of outdoor maintenance activities including: Tree felling, processing and ground works Tree and shrub planting and maintenance Hedge trimming and laying Strimming and verge maintenance Footpath and public rights of way maintenance Operating specialist machinery including chainsaws, chippers, hedge cutters and powered plant Carrying out routine maintenance of vehicles, plant and arboriculture equipment You will be required to work safely and efficiently, following relevant health and safety, traffic management and operational procedures. You may work independently, as part of a team or alongside other contractors and organisations. About you You will ideally have experience in forestry, arboriculture or grounds maintenance , together with experience using relevant machinery and equipment. You should be able to demonstrate a good understanding of safe working practices and be comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions. A valid driving licence is required. A Large Goods Vehicle licence and current CPC/DQC are also relevant to the role. Qualifications such as NPTC/CS chainsaw units, arboriculture or horticulture qualifications, NRSWA and First Aid are desirable. Relevant experience may be considered alongside a commitment to gaining the required qualifications. We are looking for someone who is reliable, self-motivated and well organised , with good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with colleagues and the public. You should be able to use your initiative, prioritise your workload and remain professional in challenging situations. Additional information This is a safety-critical role . The work may involve evenings, weekends and public holidays, including occasional emergency call-outs. You will work outdoors in all weather conditions and may be required to travel between depots and work locations as directed. Drivers are subject to the relevant health and fitness requirements.
