Salary: £35,000 - £45,000 per year DOE

Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Hours: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week. Weekend and overnight work may be required depending on installation schedules.

Quest Employment is recruiting for an experienced Field Installation Engineer to join a growing and innovative business specialising in refrigerated display systems for major retail environments across the UK. This is an exciting opportunity for a hands-on engineer with installation, construction, refrigeration, or electrical experience who enjoys travelling, problem-solving, and working on customer sites nationwide.

The Role

As a Field Installation Engineer, you will be responsible for the delivery, installation, assembly, and customisation of refrigerated display equipment at customer locations across the UK. The role combines site-based installation work with workshop and warehouse-based assembly duties during quieter installation periods. Candidates should be comfortable travelling regularly and staying away from home when required, typically averaging 12 nights per week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Delivering and installing refrigerated display equipment on customer sites
  • Loading and unloading equipment safely using forklifts and manual handling techniques
  • Assembling and configuring display units to specification
  • Fitting trims, accessories, and peripheral components
  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and technical instructions
  • Identifying and resolving on-site technical or quality issues
  • Completing installation records and documentation accurately
  • Supporting snagging work, service visits, and additional deliveries
  • Assisting with workshop assembly and operational projects when required
  • Maintaining Health & Safety standards at all times

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years experience within installation, engineering, construction, refrigeration, or similar hands-on environments
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Willingness to travel across the UK and stay away overnight when required
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Physically fit and capable of manual handling duties
  • Flexible approach to working hours and occasional weekend work
