Warehouse Operative / Trainee Yard Shunter Required - Derby
Quest Employment are currently recruiting for Warehouse Operatives / Trainee Yard Shunters to join a busy contract logistics environment based in Derby.
This role is ideal for someone with warehouse, yard, driving or logistics experience who is looking to develop into a shunting role. Previous shunting experience would be beneficial, but is not essential, as 5 days of training will be provided.
Candidates must be confident driving, reversing and have the ability to learn how to tow and manoeuvre trailers safely within a busy yard environment.
The role will involve a mix of warehouse duties and yard shunting once trained, so flexibility is essential.
The Role
As a Warehouse Operative / Trainee Yard Shunter, your duties may include:
Supporting general warehouse operations
Loading and unloading goods where required
Picking, packing and moving stock
Keeping the warehouse and yard areas clean, organised and safe
Learning how to move trailers safely around the yard
Learning how to position trailers onto loading bays
Learning safe coupling, uncoupling and bay movement procedures
Completing training to safely tow and reverse trailers
Supporting inbound and outbound operations
Communicating with warehouse, transport and gatehouse teams
Following instructions carefully during training
Working outdoors in the yard when required
Following all site health and safety procedures
