The Role

This is not a “watch the shift from the office window” type of role. This is a hands‑on operational leadership position within a fast‑paced ecommerce warehouse where customer expectations are high, volumes move quickly and every delay has a knock‑on effect somewhere. You’ll be leading Team Leaders and Warehouse Operatives across a busy ecommerce fulfilment operation, making sure orders leave accurately, on time and without operational chaos breaking out every five minutes. You’ll report directly into the Shift Operations Manager and play a key role in keeping the shift productive, organised and accountable. This role would suit someone currently operating as a Warehouse Supervisor, Shift Supervisor or Senior Team Leader within an ecommerce, retail, D2C or high‑volume fulfilment environment.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Leading the day‑to‑day warehouse operation across your shift
  • Managing Team Leaders and Warehouse Operatives within a high‑volume ecommerce environment
  • Driving productivity, accuracy and SLA performance
  • Supporting pick, pack, dispatch and returns operations
  • Managing labour allocation and workflow priorities
  • Monitoring shift KPIs and operational performance
  • Conducting shift briefs, handovers and floor support
  • Supporting onboarding, training and development of warehouse teams
  • Managing absence, conduct and performance issues where needed
  • Supporting operational improvements and process changes
  • Ensuring Health & Safety standards are consistently maintained
  • Working closely with the Shift Operations Manager to deliver operational targets

What You’ll Need

  • Previous experience supervising teams within an ecommerce or fulfilment warehouse operation
  • Experience working in fast‑paced KPI and SLA‑driven environments
  • Good understanding of ecommerce workflows including picking, packing, dispatch and customer order fulfilment
  • Experience managing people, productivity and shift performance
  • Confidence dealing with operational pressure and changing priorities
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to lead from the front rather than manage from a chair
  • A calm approach when the operation inevitably decides to test everyone’s patience simultaneously

What They’re Looking For

Someone operationally sharp. Someone organised. Someone who understands ecommerce pressure properly. People who succeed in these environments are usually visible leaders who can build standards, hold people accountable and still keep the team engaged when volume ramps up. If you’ve worked in ecommerce before, you’ll already know - when the operation falls behind, everyone knows about it very quickly.

What You Might Not Like

  • It’s fast paced
  • Volumes change quickly
  • Peak gets busy
  • Customer deadlines are non‑negotiable
  • Some days feel like controlled madness
  • You’ll spend more time on the warehouse floor than hiding behind spreadsheets

What You’ll Get

  • £34,000 salary
  • Genuine progression opportunities
  • Large‑scale ecommerce operational exposure
  • Stable long‑term opportunity
  • Supportive leadership team
  • A business where operational leadership is genuinely valued
