Field Installation Engineer (Refrigeration)

Location: £45,000 per year DOE

Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Hours: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week. Weekend and overnight work may be required depending on installation schedules.

This is an excellent opportunity for a practical, hands-on engineer with experience in installation, construction, refrigeration, or electrical work who enjoys travelling, problem-solving, and working on customer sites nationwide.

The Role

As a Field Installation Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering, installing, assembling, and adapting refrigerated display equipment at customer locations throughout the UK. The role combines site-based installation work with workshop and warehouse assembly duties during quieter periods between installations. Candidates should be comfortable with regular travel and overnight stays when required, typically averaging 12 nights away per week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Delivering and installing refrigerated display equipment at customer sites
  • Loading and unloading equipment safely using forklifts and manual handling methods
  • Assembling and setting up display units to specification
  • Fitting trims, accessories, and related components
  • Reading and working from engineering drawings and technical instructions
  • Identifying and resolving on-site technical or quality issues
  • Completing installation paperwork and records accurately
  • Supporting snagging work, service visits, and additional deliveries
  • Assisting with workshop assembly and wider operational tasks when needed
  • Maintaining health and safety standards at all times

Requirements

  • At least 5 years experience in installation, engineering, construction, refrigeration, or a similar hands-on environment
  • The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • A full UK driving licence
  • Willingness to travel across the UK and stay away overnight when required
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Good physical fitness and the ability to carry out manual handling tasks
  • A flexible approach to working hours, including occasional weekend work
