Hours: Monday-Friday 08:00-17:00

Our client is looking for an experienced and driven Operations Manager to oversee the day-to-day running of their hazardous waste operation. This is a hands-on leadership role focused on ensuring operational efficiency, maintaining high compliance standards, and driving continuous improvement across the business.

The successful candidate will lead a team of approximately 10 employees and play a key role in ensuring operational targets, safety standards, and customer expectations are consistently achieved and improved upon.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the daily operations of hazardous waste collection, processing, and disposal
  • Ensure full compliance with environmental, health & safety, and regulatory requirements
  • Manage and support operational staff, drivers, and site personnel
  • Develop, implement, and maintain safe working procedures
  • Monitor operational performance, productivity, and associated costs
  • Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, implementing corrective actions where required
  • Coordinate maintenance schedules for vehicles, plant equipment, and facilities
  • Manage operational scheduling and customer service issues
  • Liaise with regulators, contractors, customers, and internal technical sales teams
  • Support audits, inspections, and compliance reporting activities
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and operational development
Requirements
  • Previous experience within waste management, environmental services, logistics, or industrial operations
  • Strong leadership and people management skills
  • Experience managing operational teams in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Competent using Microsoft Office and operational management systems
  • Experience working with hazardous materials and regulatory compliance is highly desirable
Qualifications
  • Industry-related qualifications such as WAMITAB and/or NEBOSH essential
Working Conditions
  • Primarily site-based with occasional office duties
  • Flexibility to support emergency response and occasional out-of-hours requirements when necessary
