Quest Employment is recruiting on behalf of a well-established and growing manufacturing business specialising in bespoke panel processing and precision wood machining. We are looking for an experienced Beam Saw Operator / Wood Machinist to join a skilled and friendly production team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience working with sheet materials who enjoys working independently while maintaining high standards of quality and accuracy.
The successful candidate will be responsible for operating a Homag beam saw, managing their own workload, and ensuring materials are processed efficiently to meet production schedules.
The Role
- Operating and setting up a Homag beam saw
- Cutting sheet materials accurately to specification
- Working with MDF, plywood, melamine-faced boards, and other panel products
- Reading and interpreting cutting lists and production schedules
- Managing your own workload to meet production targets and deadlines
- Conducting routine machine checks and basic maintenance
- Monitoring quality throughout the cutting process
- Maintaining a clean, organised, and safe working area
- Minimising material waste and maximising efficiency
- Working closely with the production team to ensure smooth workflow
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience operating a beam saw, ideally Homag machinery
- Strong background in woodworking, panel processing, or wood machining
- Experience working with MDF, plywood, melamine-faced boards, and similar materials
- Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Good understanding of workshop health and safety practices
- Reliable with excellent timekeeping
- Positive attitude and strong work ethic
