Catering / Café Assistant
Location: Peterborough
Salary: £26,200 per annum
Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:30am-3:30pm
Flexibility required for occasional event-related weekends

The Role
We’re looking for someone who enjoys working with food, likes variety and is happy getting stuck in wherever needed.
This is more than just serving in a café.
You’ll be preparing sandwiches, helping with buffets, supporting in the kitchen, serving customers and making sure everything runs smoothly throughout the day.
The usual hours are Monday to Friday, 7:30am-3:30pm, which is a pretty decent catering shift if we’re being honest, but there will be some flexibility needed for occasional weekend events.
What You’ll Be Doing

Preparing sandwiches, rolls and light food

Helping prepare buffets and event catering

Supporting food preparation in the kitchen

Serving customers in the café

Handling food safely and correctly

Keeping food preparation areas clean and organised

Replenishing displays

Washing up and supporting general kitchen duties

Following food hygiene and food safety procedures

Helping the wider team during busy periods

Supporting occasional events where required
What You’ll Need
You must have previous food preparation or catering experience and hold relevant food safety / food handling qualifications.
We’re looking for someone who is:

Confident preparing food

Experienced in a café, catering or kitchen environment

Food hygiene trained

Friendly and comfortable dealing with customers

Reliable and organised

Happy working as part of a team

Flexible enough to support occasional weekend events

Willing to help wherever needed
What You Might Not Like
This is not a role where you’ll be doing the same thing all day.
You could be prepping sandwiches, helping with a buffet, serving in the café and then jumping back into the kitchen.
So if you like variety, great.
If your favourite phrase is that’s not my job, this probably isn’t the one.
