Shunter Driver in Chesterfield

Location: Derby

Pay: £15.04– £18.20 per hour

Shifts available: Sunday to Thursday, Tuesday to Saturday or Monday to Friday

Hours: 6:00am – 2:00pm | 2:00pm – 10:00pm | 10:00pm – 6:00am

Quest Employment is currently looking for experienced Shunters Drivers to join a busy and well-established logistics operation in Derby.

This is a fantastic opportunity for candidates with previous yard, logistics or transport experience who enjoy working in a fast-paced environment. You'll play a key role in keeping the site running efficiently by safely moving trailers around the yard and ensuring they are positioned for loading and unloading.

The Role

As a Yard Shunter, your responsibilities will include:

• Safely moving trailers between designated yard locations and loading bays
• Positioning trailers accurately for loading and unloading operations
• Carrying out routine vehicle and equipment safety checks
• Monitoring trailer movements and maintaining an organized yard
• Communicating effectively with warehouse and transport teams
• Reporting defects, hazards, or operational issues promptly
• Maintaining high standards of housekeeping across the yard
• Following all Health & Safety procedures and site regulations at all times

What We're Looking For

• Previous experience in a yard, transport, or logistics environment
• Good awareness of Health & Safety procedures
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Reliable, punctual, and hardworking
• Flexible approach with a positive attitude

Please note: Due to the remote location and limited public transport links, your own transport is highly desirable.

Pay & Benefits

• Day Shift: £15.04 per hour
• PM Shift: £15.04 per hour (2:00pm – 8:00pm) and £18.20 per hour (8:00pm – 10:00pm)
• Night Shift: £18.20 per hour

Training

Successful candidates will complete their first two weeks of training at an alternative warehouse location before transferring to the main site in Derby.
