Essential Functions of Employment with DLO:
- Show up for work, on time & prepared each and every scheduled work day.
- Perform all tasks and processes assigned to you including all tasks and processes you are fully qualified to perform and all tasks and processing that you may be over-qualified to perform.
- Maintain a positive and supportive attitude throughout each and every scheduled work day & work as a collaborative team member with your fellow teammates on a daily basis.
Main Duties:
- Performs routine testing in blood bank, chemistry, hematology, urinalysis, serology, coagulation and microbiology.
- Assist with specimen processing as needed.
- Follow employer policies.
- Work with fellow employees in a professional, productive manner.
- Perform instrument maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Main responsibility will be duties in the clinical laboratory.
- Additional duties will include assisting supervisor/manager with special projects/assignments.
Required Knowledge:
- Understanding of standard laboratory processes and procedures.
- Must be able to follow written and oral instructions.
- Must have a good understanding of laboratory quality assurance standards.
- Must have good computer skills.
Required Experience:
- AS degree in Medical Lab Technology or BS in Medical Technology.
- ASCP MT/MLT certification or equivalent or be eligible for national MT/MLT certification.
Special Requirements:
- Good customer service skills is a must.
- Some phlebotomy tasks will be required.
- Holiday and weekend rotation may be required.
- May be required to work outside of regularly scheduled hours.
Physical and Mental Requirements:
- The normal performance of duties may require lifting and carrying objects: Objects 1 to 10 pounds are lifted and carried frequently; objects 11 to 25 pounds are lifted and carried occasionally; objects 36 to 50 pounds are seldom lifted or carried and objects over 50 pounds are not to be lifted or carried without assistance.
- Ability to stand and work at the bench for long periods of time.
- Frequent walking and/or standing.
- May be required to use a wide variety of manual and automated pipettes and laboratory instruments and apparatuses all of which demand significant manual dexterity.
