Join a dynamic and multidisciplinary team to design and develop state-of-the-art systems for monitoring and tracking, leveraging computer vision techniques. As a Computer Vision Engineer, you will play a key role in shaping the future of innovative devices across a variety of industries.
Role Overview:
In this role, you will collaborate with a talented team of engineers and technicians to apply your expertise in computer vision systems, contributing to building systems that include electro-optic sensors, lenses, mirrors, and mounts. These systems will be used in applications requiring high-performance vision capabilities, from visual to near infrared (NIR) and far infrared (FIR). You will be involved in the full product lifecycle, from initial design and prototyping through to testing, validation, and product launch.
Key Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the design, test, and validation of optical systems, including sensors, assemblies, and optical components.
- Work on the development of systems for monitoring, tracking, and computer vision applications.
- Customize the image processing pipeline to optimize performance.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including engineers, technicians, and product managers.
- Develop bespoke algorithms building on state-of-the-art computer vision research.
- Develop machine vision systems to meet demanding technical and reliability requirements.
- Organize and manage your work effectively, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality results.
- Participate in prototype development, testing, and market-ready product releases.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Engineering, Physics, Maths or related area, or equivalent experience in a related field (Master’s or PhD preferred).
- Experience in designing and developing computer vision systems, particularly in the areas of detection and tracking.
- Good familiarity with algorithmic approaches such as convolutional neural networks and transformers.
- Familiarity with tracking algorithms such as the Kalman filter.
- Understanding of (perhaps older) less computationally intense techniques such as blob detection.
- Comfortable working in python.
- Comfortable working onsite with a team in and around the Cambridge area.
Desirable Skills:
- Knowledge of video analysis techniques.
- Knowledge of optics.
- Knowledge and experience working outside the visible spectrum.
- Familiarity with multidisciplinary project collaboration and agile development environments.
