Nantwich, Cheshire | Full-time

This is not a typical sales role — and that’s exactly why people enjoy it. At Quelfire, we operate at the intersection of construction, building safety, and passive fire protection, helping clients make the right decisions — not just the easy ones. With increasing regulation — including Gateway 2 submissions — and a major shift toward design-led construction, the demand for accurate, responsible technical advice is growing rapidly across the UK construction industry.

Due to continued growth, we’re looking for a client-facing Technical Advisor to join our team in Nantwich, supporting clients across a range of projects and helping us maintain our reputation for doing things properly.

The Role

This is a client-facing Technical Advisor position within the construction and fire protection sector, combining:

  • Technical support
  • Client relationship management
  • Consultative technical sales support

You’ll work closely with architects, contractors, and design teams, providing guidance on passive fire protection systems, supporting specification decisions, and ensuring compliance with building safety standards. This is a values-led role — focused on providing the right solution, not making a sale at any cost.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a trusted technical advisor within the construction industry
  • Handle inbound enquiries, delivering clear technical support and advice
  • Support Gateway 2 submissions and building safety compliance
  • Build relationships with architects, contractors, and design & specification teams
  • Attend meetings (Teams, site visits, office-based)
  • Support projects from early design and specification through to installation
  • Provide technical sales support, identifying opportunities without hard selling
  • Promote best practice in passive fire protection and building safety

What We’re Looking For

Skills & Experience

  • Background in construction, building products, fire protection, or similar sectors (ideal) OR experience in:
    • Technical support
    • Technical sales
    • Internal sales (technical)
  • Ability to interpret and communicate technical information clearly
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • Good IT proficiency

Mindset (Key to Success)

  • A consultative, values-led approach
  • Focused on doing the right thing for the client
  • Strong communicator who builds trust
  • Curious, proactive, and eager to learn
  • Calm under pressure and able to prioritise effectively
  • Commercially aware — without being pushy

This Role May Also Suit Candidates currently working as:

  • Technical Sales Advisor (Construction / Building Products)
  • Technical Support Advisor
  • Internal Sales (Technical)
  • Specification Advisor
  • Passive Fire Protection Specialist
  • Applications Engineer (Construction Products)

Why Join Quelfire?

  • Work in a high-impact area of building safety and compliance
  • Based locally in Nantwich, supporting projects across the UK
  • Exposure to major construction projects and key industry stakeholders
  • Develop a rare hybrid skillset: Technical, Commercial, Client-facing

Salary, Working Pattern & Benefits

  • Salary: Competitive (dependent on experience) — we believe in paying for the right person rather than hiring to a fixed level
  • Bonus: Discretionary bonus scheme following successful completion of probation
  • Hours: Typically 8:00am – 4:30pm (with half hour lunch, or similar)
  • Location: Office-based, Nantwich head office (full-time, particularly during the first 12 months)

Progression & Development

We’re ideally looking for someone we can develop and grow over time. This role offers:

  • Structured learning within fire protection and construction compliance
  • The opportunity to build expertise in a highly specialised, in-demand field
  • Future progression into technical specialist roles or sales/commercial positions

Progression will be shaped around your skills, performance and career aspirations.
