Queensferry Sports and Community Hub is a SCIO Registered Charity and we are looking for an Assistant Manager (Hospitality & Events) based in South Queensferry to help lead and develop our café, bar and function space. This is a hands-on, dynamic role where you’ll oversee the day-to-day running of the café, bar and function area while driving income through events and business development. You’ll play a key part in shaping a welcoming, inclusive space for both community use and private functions. This role will involve flexible working hours including evenings and weekends.
We are looking for someone with strong operational standards with commercial awareness and an ability to connect with people.
The Role You'll take responsibility for:
- Manage the daily operation of the café, bar, and function space
- Maintain high standards of service, cleanliness, and compliance as well as preparing and serving food and drinks
- Oversee staffing, rotas, stock control and supplier relationships (including stock delivery and collection arrangements)
- Work closely with the Charity Manager to support charitable objectives, help deliver community-focused activity, and ensure hospitality and events operations align with the organisation’s mission and values
- Lead, support, and motivate a small team
- Ensure compliance with licensing, food hygiene, and health & safety regulations
- Maximise revenue and profitability across all hospitality areas
- Develop and grow events including private hires, community events, and functions
- Increase usage of spaces, especially during evenings and weekends
- Monitor financial performance, including sales, margins, stock control and waste
- Identify and implement opportunities to boost customer spend and repeat business
- Work closely with the Facilities & Operational team as well as Charity Manager to support joined-up service delivery
This role will involve evenings and weekends.
About You You'll likely have experience in the following:
- Proven experience in a hospitality management role (café, bar, or similar)
- Experience managing teams and day-to-day operations
- Experience delivering or supporting events
- Strong understanding of stock control, margins, and cost management
- Knowledge of food hygiene, licensing, and health & safety requirements
- Excellent organisational and operational management skills
- Commercially aware with the ability to drive income
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Flexible approach to working hours, including evenings and weekends
- Experience increasing event bookings or developing new income streams
- Experience working in community or multi-use venues
- Driving Licence
