Queensferry Sports and Community Hub is a SCIO Registered Charity and we are looking for an Assistant Manager (Facilities & Operational) to oversee the smooth operation and development of our multi-use Hub. This is a varied, hands-on role where you’ll take responsibility for the day-to-day management, maintenance, and use of our facilities. You’ll ensure safe, high-quality environments while driving participation through effective programming, supporting our charitable objectives, and maximising the positive impact of the Hub within the local community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilities & Operational Management
    • Oversee the daily running of the building, front of house, gym, and sports facilities
    • Manage bookings, hires, and lettings across all spaces
    • Lead and support a small reception and facilities team
    • Ensure all areas are safe, well-maintained, and compliant with health & safety regulations, facility operational procedures and risk assessments
    • Coordinate maintenance schedules, repairs, and external contractors
    • Ensure all spaces are prepared and ready for use, including for community and charitable activities
  • Utilisation & Programming
    • Maximise usage of facilities by increasing bookings and participation
    • Work closely with the Hospitality team to support joined-up service delivery
    • Develop and coordinate programmes such as classes, clubs, and holiday activities
    • Support initiatives targeting key community groups and charitable causes aligned with the Hub’s mission
    • Work closely with the Charity Manager to plan, support, and deliver activities that strengthen community engagement, social impact, and participation across the Hub
  • Systems & Coordination
    • Manage booking systems, scheduling, and facility usage
    • Coordinate with hospitality to support events and activities
    • Monitor usage data and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and participation

About You

Essential Experience

  • Experience in facilities, leisure, or operational management
  • Experience coordinating bookings, activities, or programmes
  • Experience managing health and safety in a public-facing environment

Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong understanding of facilities management and maintenance processes
  • Good knowledge and understanding of health & safety requirements
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and respond to issues effectively
  • Proactive mindset with a focus on improving utilisation and efficiency
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills
  • Flexible approach to working hours including working evenings and weekends

Desirable

  • Experience in sports, charity, or community programming
