We are looking for an experienced, proactive, and motivated Senior Receptionist to join our friendly and well‑established GP practice in Hackney. This is an excellent opportunity for someone ready to take the next step into a supervisory role – someone who thrives in a fast‑paced environment and is passionate about delivering excellent patient care.

You will play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of reception and administrative services, supporting the management team, and helping to lead and develop a high‑performing front‑of‑house team.

Main duties of the job:

  • Supervising and supporting the reception and administrative team on a day‑to‑day basis, ensuring operational targets and service standards are consistently met through effective task delegation and workflow management.
  • Responsibilities include monitoring progress, following up on outstanding actions, supporting the Operations Coordinator, Deputy Manager, and Practice Manager, and acting as a point of escalation for reception queries and patient concerns.
  • Contributing to rota coordination and service planning, while helping to maintain a positive, efficient, and patient‑focused environment.
  • Supporting the continuous improvement of workflows and patient experience, and ensuring all mandatory training and compliance requirements remain up to date.

Qualifications:

GCSE Grade

Experience:

  • Minimum of two years experience working within a GP practice, with EMIS training and experience supporting or supervising a team in a busy reception and administrative environment.
  • Demonstrates strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload effectively, alongside excellent communication skills delivered in a professional and approachable manner.
  • Able to remain calm under pressure, manage competing demands efficiently, and take a proactive approach to problem‑solving with a strong sense of ownership and responsibility.
  • Experience of higher education or structured professional training, or equivalent practical experience, with demonstrated leadership potential and confidence in guiding and supporting a team effectively.
