About the Role

The Centre for Secure Information Technology (CSIT), in the School of Electronics, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EEECS) at Queen's University Belfast, seeks to appoint a Research Fellow in Cyber Physical Systems Security.

CSIT is an Innovation and Knowledge Centre (IKC) in cyber security funded by EPSRC and Innovate UK since 2009. It is internationally recognised for its research and innovation activities and has received numerous awards including a Queen's Anniversary Prize in 2015 and recognition as an Academic Centre of Excellence (ACE) in Cyber Security Research and in Cyber Security Education by the UK's National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC).

CSIT's research direction is shaped by its strategic partners, Rolls Royce and BAE Systems, and it enjoys collaborative research partnerships with a range of industry and academic organisations, including CYLAB at Carnegie Mellon University, ETRI, South Korea, and CERIAS at Purdue University. CSIT also hosts the UK Research Institute in Hardware Security and Embedded Systems (RISE: Uniquely for a UK research centre CSIT includes a significant engineering capability who work alongside dedicated commercial and innovation professionals with deep domain expertise to help accelerate research to market.

We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral research fellow to conduct research in cyber physical systems security.

Please note that successful candidates will be required to undergo Baseline Personnel Security Standard checks.

This position is a fixed term contact lasting approximately 36 months (until 31/07/2029). Fixed term contract posts are available for the stated period in the first instance but in particular circumstances may be renewed or made permanent subject to availability of funding.

About the Person

The successful candidate will be expected to undertake research in the area of cyber security of Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) within critical infrastructure and advanced manufacturing systems.

The essential criteria of the post includes:

* To have, or be about to obtain, a PhD in computer science, engineering, physical sciences, or closely related discipline.

* Relevant research experience in cyber security related to critical infrastructure, advanced manufacturing, IT-OT, cyber-physical systems (CPS), or AI-based autonomous systems for cyber response

* Evidence of a strong publication record commensurate with career stage and experience

* Good software programming skills.

* Excellent oral and written communication skills. Articulate, confident, and able to clearly communicate complex concepts.

* Ability to collaborative effectively as part of a team.

* Prepared to work closely with industrial collaborators.

* Demonstrate a high degree of integrity, honesty and openness in professional conduct.

* Able to visit collaborative partners and to attend meetings and conferences nationally and internationally as requested.
